Kubernetes + AWS = Multicloud?
AWS and Kubernetes are two different sets of skill that overlap.
Https://console.aws.com is a thing. Actually, it’s over 200-things. Adopting AWS as the platform upon which you run your technology is a discipline in itself. So, as we think of multicloud in traditional terms, we think of AWS + <insert public cloud>. To complicate things, what about Kubernetes?
I’m not thinking Kubernetes as in EKS. That’s just one of the 200-things. Instead, I’m thinking of Kubernetes as how Netflix deployed containers inside of ECS-based VMs. Cloud isn’t a place. Cloud is an operating model.
The operating models between Kubernetes and AWS are different. When you deploy VMware on AWS, you are adopting a hybrid operating model.
With that logic, if you adopt Kubernetes on AWS VMs, aren’t you adopting multicloud?
