Shift Happens in Your Career (Sponsored by my Grand Daughter)
Kelsey Hightower left X (Twitter) which has me asking when is the right time to embrace shift?
If you have recently followed Kelsey Hightower, you’d not be surprised that he left X for Bluesky. With more than 245K followers on X, Kelsey embraced shift and started over on Bluesky we “only” 11K followers. I’ve been checking in on publicly available engagement indicators, and his account is about as active as any account I follow on the platform. All of this has me asking, when do you embrace shift?
It’s without question that the tech industry is in a substantial period of shift. AI is the hype technology. Broadcom has disrupted the direction of enterprise data center software with its acquisition of VMware and subsequent product decisions. And a tremendous number of technology workers have been impacted by layoffs. Shift is happening.
My question for you is, are you embracing the shift? My two nearest examples are the decision to become part of Futurum as the tech landscape changed last year and when I switched persona from a virtualization SME to the CTO Advisor.
What changes have you undertaken over the past 18 months?

Let’s debate the whole gamification of school fundraisers some other day. My as sweet as a 16 y/o teenager can be asked me to share her link to her theatre group fundraiser. Don’t think of it as expensive popcorn. Think of it as a way to get my baby to the top of the leaderboard!!! :)
