During Network Field Day 28, Netris presented an old concept as new. The idea of having Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking on-premises. It’s a simple concept that’s difficult to implement—more on that in another post.
But the question is who would want the capability. Why not just use the public cloud? Dio Ianakiara, CEO of Klever talked about how he reduced his company’s expenses by 90% over cloud by building the capability on-prem.
So, we all should just run and build Kubernetes clusters on-premises and forget the public cloud, right? It’s not that simple and this is only a CTO Short vs. a full thought out piece of advice. Remember if you stumble, developers will do what developers do.
I can say it feels like we are at a tipping point. The A16z cloud repatriation research is a retrospective piece of research vs. a prediction.
