Too much cloud not enough engineers
What do you do when you don't have enough cloud engineers to execute your cloud migration?
Once you’ve lifted and shifted your application to the public cloud, it’s my experience that modernization takes a back seat. But also, I talked to a public cloud provider, and a large customer needs 200 additional cloud engineers to complete a cloud migration.
There are not enough cloud engineers to fulfill the demand of the number of companies wanting to migrate to the public cloud. So, what’s the solution? First, you got to automate the things you can automate. For example, Google Cloud has Anthos Migrate.
In theory, Google can identify patterns and use tooling to inventory your applications and recommend your migration strategy.
Have you tried one of these automation tools for app modernization? What’s your experience? Or better, how have you navigated the talent shortage?
